THE CLIENT:
Charlotte Ooi is decorative artist working in the Cotswolds. Lot upcycles and paints old furniture, original paintings, and interiors.
THE BRIEF:
Lot required a website to mark the launch of her new business and to showcase her paintings and designs online. A multi-paged photo gallery was to be the focal point of the site. Lot wanted to be able to update the website herself with news of upcoming events and photographs of her new creations. She also wanted to have a blog so that she could write about her work and upcoming events on an ongoing basis.
MY ROLE: Web design and development.
MY DESIGN SOLUTION:
I began with the fact that Lot wanted the website to be simple, but also to look fresh and elegant. Lot described herself as a “flowery” sort of person who likes florals and shabby chic. She also uses Farrow & Ball paints in her work and often paints in shades of blue. This inspired my choice of floral background image on which I based my colour palette. The home page has a separate design to the rest of the site with a rich mix of pinks and blues. It acts as a jumping off point, with links and teasers to the website pages. The remainder of the site has a fresh white background and continues the theme of tranquil blue with splashes of colour provided by photographs of Lot’s colourful work.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL:
“I have had so many positive comments about the site...Working with you was a great pleasure. One of the most interesting aspects was to see how you responded to my personality and my products - it is a great gift you have to be able to identify with a business and to turn your design around to express its essence.
The service was excellent; I have not had any reason to complain as everything has worked so well and you were infinitely patient when my quirky electrical equipment failed during training sessions.
I am very happy and satisfied with the result, it looks great and is very easy to manage. Of course I will recommend you to others. Site stats are fast becoming my latest obsessive compulsive disorder, but I don't think there's a cure for that.
Thank you Angie, you were brill!
