Tailoring for Women

THE CLIENT:

Carol Alayne is a tailor with over 20 years' experience, who specialises in tailoring for women.

THE BRIEF:

Carol wanted a new website and a blog to share her passion and expertise with other people in the trade, as well as potential and established clients. She also needed training in the principles of social media communications and also using the blogging software.

MY ROLE:

THE STRATEGY:

I spent three sessions with Carol. Two of the sessions were spent exploring communications strategy for the blog. We brainstormed post ideas, explored long-term goals and did market research. We also explored blogging issues in detail including etiquette, writing style, SEO and marketing. The final session was devoted to WordPress blog training.

FEATURES:

A personalised Blogging Handbook for Carol capturing all the aspects of the training sessions, including images, written by ZenAngie for Tailoring for Women.

THE RESULT:

A year after she started blogging, Carol wrote:

“Judging from our Google rankings it has reached way beyond our initial expectations…and cultural boundaries....” and

“Creating a virtual shop window has been the best marketing decision in 20 years.”

Tailoring for Women has stimulated interest in readers world wide and opened up discussions with others in the trade and on several internet forums. Carol has also had apprentices and work experience students approach her via the blog and has developed a client base in New York.

Tailoring for Women has also been featured in National Westminster Bank’s ‘Sense’ magazine, and in November 2009, Carol presented a talk on women’s tailoring at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London together with Jaeger. In December 2009 Carol was interviewed by Jenni Murray on Radio 4's 'Women's Hour'.

CLIENT FEEDBACK:

Angie, thanks! ...I am having such a great time with the blog, and I have learned so much about why I am in business. The results, say all, are very impressive.

I just wanted to say what a joy it was to work with [you] and learn what was for me a new skill. I love writing the blog and it is fascinating to see the stir it is beginning to create.
